Living

I could use another day off.

  • Finally renewed my license. It’s been expired for a month, but I never received anything in the mail (or probably accidentally threw it out). Made a last second appointment today. Wasn’t surprised to find out that they were going to make me take a test. Only missed one question!
  • The guy next to me kept looking around him at other screens. He must’ve been having a tough time.
  • Took a terrible new photo. I’ve been pretty happy with my photos in the past, but this time my eyes were partially closed so I look stoned haha.
  • My good friend is leaving the company I work at and it’s a big bummer. I’m happy for him though and I think it will motivate me even more to move on myself.
  • 3 day weekend!

I went out to a succulent nursery a couple weeks ago. It was up in the foothills and run by an older lady. She said they used to be the largest in the country although they had since moved locations and downsized. It wasn’t the prettiest collection all together, but I brought a macro lens and was able to get some interesting shots.

Mt. Dana - Yosemite
The description of this hike is that it’s relatively easy, but I thought it was pretty strenuous. It felt like it was straight up pretty much the whole way. It’s the second highest peak in Yosemite at 13,061 feet (about 60 feet shorter than the highest). My friend had some altitude sickness and we were exhausted by the time we got back to the car. After that we ate lunch and hiked out to our camping spot. Super long day, but worth it.
And I got to see Mono Lake from above! Funny seeing it from that view after spending so much time out on the water.

Tenaya Lake - Yosemite
Had to stop while passing through for work last week. It’s such a pretty lake with so many different angles to photograph it.

Big Pine Lakes, CA
Turns out you don’t have to go to Washington or Canada to see a cool turquoise lake. There are several lakes here that flow into each other and they are fed by the Palisade Glacier which is the southernmost glacier in the US and the largest in the Sierra Nevada.
The hike was ALL uphill but worth it in the end. It looked fake even when I was there in person.

Before you know it, things are years in the past. Life’s funny like that.
